Synopsis
Zak, Noa and Eli share one dream: to reach Mars. When the rocket they built explodes on landing, they no longer have a ship - but they still have an entire planet ahead of them.
What begins as a survival story becomes a story of building. The three friends raise a house, then a city, then a whole civilization. They face sandstorms, meteor showers and unexpected creatures and, every time everything falls apart, they pick up the pieces and start again - tools in hand and grit in their hearts.
In the final chapter, Mars is alive: full of buildings, schools, animals and people. Zak, Noa and Eli climb to the top of the tallest building in the city they created, look up at the sky and see the Moon shining. "Are you thinking what I'm thinking?"
The first volume of the Adventures Through the Universe series, The Journey to Mars is told in eight illustrated chapters, with real science facts at the end of each one and the owl OwLira as the mission's guide.
